Charlotte Ritter passed away tragically on February 28, 2025

Charlotte Nicole Ritter, a lifelong educator, devoted mother, and active contributor to the Kerrville community passed away on February 28, 2025, at age 39. Known for her kindness, infectious smile, intelligence, and commitment to nurturing others, Charlotte will be remembered for touching generations of hill country students, a multitude of friends, and her beloved family.

Born on April 14, 1985, Charlotte spent her formative years in Kerrville where she developed deep roots in the community. She graduated from Tivy High School in 2003 and attended Schreiner University, where she earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees. Her vocation and her passion was education, whether that was in traditional settings such as at her most recent position at Center Point ISD, or while tutoring children outside of school hours, Charlotte was devoted to helping develop young minds. One parent recently remarked, “She didn’t just teach curriculum—she taught life lessons that stuck with her students long after they left her classroom.”

Community service and engagement was another pillar of Charlotte’s personality. She volunteered regularly with a variety of civic groups and nonprofits, giving of her time and her spirit to improve the lives of others. A friend remarked on her community service by describing Charlotte as, “someone who saw needs and quietly filled them without seeking recognition.”

Charlotte may be remembered most as a friend to be counted upon as she fostered and cherished scores of close friendships throughout her life. She checked in when life got busy, celebrated even the smallest victories, and showed up when it mattered most.

Charlotte Nicole Ritter was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lillian Margaret Ritter and Harold Glen Ritter. She is survived by her mother, Catherine Lucy Ritter; her children, Glen David Ritter (19) and his wife, Ariatna, who are expecting Charlotte’s first grandchild, Joseph Paul De La Cruz (18), Ashlynn Nicole De La Cruz (14), Noah Jonathan Benson (10), and Nolan Jean Benson (4). She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Boni and Jerry Ritter of Lafayette, Louisiana, and David and Sally Ritter of Bryan, Texas; as well as her cousins, Lucas Ritter of Austin, Texas, Erin Dore of The Woodlands, Texas, and Lauren Tucker of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Charlotte Nicole Ritter’s life, though cut short, serves as a testament to the enduring power of community and compassion. As an educator, she shaped futures; as a mother, she nurtured hearts; and as a friend, she offered unwavering support. Her story reminds us that impact is measured not in years but in the lives uplifted along the way. The Kerrville community will continue to honor her memory through the countless seeds of kindness she planted—seeds that will undoubtedly blossom for generations to come.
